Aruba Instant (IAP) access points are controller-less—one AP acts as a Virtual Controller for the cluster. This is ideal for small to medium deployments up to 128 APs. Controller-based deployments use dedicated Mobility Controllers (MC) for larger environments requiring advanced features like AirMatch optimization, RF management at scale, and centralized policy enforcement. Aruba Central can manage both deployment modes.
Yes, Aruba offers Wi-Fi 6E access points including the AP-630 series. Wi-Fi 6E adds the 6GHz band with up to 1,200 MHz of additional spectrum—providing more non-overlapping channels, less interference from legacy devices, and higher throughput. This is especially beneficial for high-density environments and latency-sensitive applications like VR/AR.
Aruba Central is a cloud-native network management platform that provides unified visibility and control over Aruba wireless, wired, and WAN infrastructure. Key features include zero-touch provisioning, AIOps-powered insights, client analytics, firmware management, and reporting. It's subscription-based and available in different tiers (Foundation, Advanced, Enterprise).
ClearPass is Aruba's Network Access Control (NAC) platform for policy-based network access. You need ClearPass if you require: 802.1X authentication with RADIUS, BYOD onboarding and certificate management, device profiling and IoT security, guest self-registration portals, or endpoint posture assessment. For simple deployments, Aruba Central's built-in guest access may suffice.
Aruba access points support various PoE standards. Entry-level APs work with 802.3af (15.4W). Most Wi-Fi 6 APs require 802.3at (PoE+, 25.5W) for full functionality. High-end tri-radio and Wi-Fi 6E models may require 802.3bt (PoE++, up to 60W) for maximum performance. Check the specific AP datasheet for power requirements. Aruba CX switches support all PoE standards.
Let our Aruba-certified team design the perfect wireless solution for your organization.
